Today's Choice for Tomorrow's Future

Principal Marlene Kurecki

Mount Dora High School Hurricane FAMILY,

I am honored and privileged to be returning ‘home’ to Mount Dora High School as your next principal.   As many of you know, I spent 9 years at MDHS as both a teacher and assistant principal.  Mount Dora has always been a place close to my heart and I’m so excited to start this new journey with you.  As your leader, I can assure you the administration, faculty and staff will work hard every day to achieve our goal of becoming an ‘A’ school.  We are dedicated to academic success and with your help, we know we will achieve our goals.

As an athletic coach for many years in Lake County, I understand the importance and value of teamwork.  With this said, our theme this year is ONE TEAM!  You will see and hear this motto throughout our school.  We firmly believe in the concept of working together and look forward to a fun-filled year where hard work, dedication and school pride is evident throughout our campus.

I am also a firm believer in having an open-door policy and hope you will contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  We are always looking for volunteers and mentors, so please let us know if you’d like to assist.  I’d also love to see many of our stakeholders join our SAC (School Advisory Council).

Thank you again for your commitment to Mount Dora High School.  We have an amazing faculty and staff, and over 1,200 students eager to start the 2020-2021 school year.  While this past year may have ended unconventionally, we will strive to ensure this year will be safe and enjoyable for all. We look forward to you visiting our campus and thank you for being a part of our Hurricane FAMILY.  We are ONE TEAM!

With Hurricane Pride,

Marlene Straughan
